Flemenco
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
FLEMENCO
A spy-heist rogue-like!
(major changes for version 0.1.5+)
You can wishlist the game on steam at https://store.steampowered.com/app/4857790/Flemenco/.
Become a spy-criminal and interfere in the nefarious dealings of the ubiquitous Flemenco Corporation. Break into office data centers to expose illicit records, infiltrate corporate super-vaults, perform elaborate acrobatic feats, and much more!
Flemenco is actively in-development, but the core gameplay loop has a scaffold now!
Choose from twelve playable thief backgrounds, each with their own skills, strengths, and weaknesses. The current version introduces the new contract-mission system which redefines the game, as well as a means to progress and advance your criminal career. Select a contract, whether it be a heist, infiltration, or assassination, and prepare accordingly by purchasing equipment and gathering intel. Head out to complete your mission, navigating procedurally generated levels replete with their own unique arrays of lasers, alarms, explosives, vent systems, electrical grids, enemies, civilians, and more! The way you approach the contract is up to you. Lethal or non-lethal? Loud or quiet? Future updates will add even more flavor.

There is also an endless score-based Arcade Mode: choose a thief and obtain the highest score possible before inevitably getting caught.

The procedural algorithm works quite well, but of course, there are edge-cases and the occasional extremely difficult scenario (a face full of enemies greeting you at the top of a staircase, for instance). The cruft will be filtered in coming updates, I assure you. In the meantime, if you encounter any bad ones, send me a message!

Thanks your checking it out!

Excellent game! You not only recreated Monaco (Which was a really good game) in roguelike format (Which is my favourite genre), but also surprised me with music and sounds. Most often traditional roguelikes overlook this features.
The mac version does not work for me . MacOs complains about that the app would be corrupt. Tried 3x to download ...
Hi coldwarrl! Thanks for letting me know. I believe I have fixed the problem; just reuploaded the mac version. It’s working on my end so hope the issue is resolved for you as well! Thanks for trying it out so many times.
Thanks, works !. Your game is really great, a lot of innovations !!. I like the athmosphere a lot !!. I hope you will continue the game, it has SO MUCH potential !!!
I really loved Monaco and was super disappointed in the sequel. To see it translated into roguelike form is one of the coolest things ever!
EDIT: Small issue report. When opening something that causes money to drop, the way it tries to find spots to place the floor coins can be faulty. It has a tendency to spill over into weird places instead of what might seem more sensible since it doesn't seem to work like a flood fill. As an example, the tutorial's safe can deposit a coin into the bottom left corner of the room at the top right. What would be better is if it put this coin through one of the doorways or just further into the room it's in.
Hi Someone64! I must admit I felt much the same! Thanks for the support. Also, thanks for letting me know about that issue: I will have a patch for that in the upcoming release v0.1.4!
Game doesn't install properly through the itch desktop client due to the way it's zipped up with the error "insecure file path".
Fills in a niche that was severely under served. The vibe and visuals are fantastic. Looking forward to giving it a spin, but from what I've seen gameplay seems slick and engaging. Nice job!
Really enjoying the game so far! I had a crash when I tried to inspect a Spades symbol that was on the floor while peeking from a vent:
Traceback (most recent call last):

Just wanted to share the crash log in case it helps, really loving the gameplay and music
Hello geeko! I am so happy to hear you’re enjoying the game. And thanks a lot for sending over the crash log. I knew a bug would be coming sometime, and I actually should have predicted this one. This happened with the antiquarian, no?
I think I recall mis-structuring (or rather, forgetting to update) the function (for the antiquarian) that sends the coloring and text info to the look mode description constructor. I will take a look and then get a new version out (alongside some other bugfixes) very quickly!
Thanks for making the game! I'm really enjoying it.
And yes, I believe I was playing the antiquarian at the time of the crash.
I can't extract the folder under linux :(
opening archive: creating zip extractor: zip: insecure file path
Hi Mario! Sorry you are having trouble; I am working on getting a proper linux version up and running, and will certainly let you know when I do. In the meantime, thanks for trying, I truly appreciate the support!
No problem excited to try it :)!
Hey Mario! Just put up the linux download. This is my first time navigating a release for linux, so I’d love to know how it goes / if all is well! Thanks for the patience!
Hey! just tried it and it works perfectly! didn't try it for long but will give it a longer test later on :)
The Keith Haring vibe with the row of thieves grabbed me , the video wouldn't let go. I look forward to this!
